Blood on my hands
Passed down from generations before
Taught to forget
The people massacred for a piece of land
I take no pride
Knowing what had happened
Fueled by greed
And need for consumption
They brought disease
False gods and corruption
Promised you life
But gave you destruction
Herd you like cattle
For their construction
They showed you death
You’re first introduction
Stripped everything
You’re deconstruction
Blood on my hands
Blood on my hands
Not a native to this land
Lineage of death and destruction
The new America
God Bless this corruption
Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Hesperus
